Mem, a new notetaking app.
According to a blog post by the founders, Kevin Moody and Dennis Xu, Mem is described as follows: “It is J.A.R.V.I.S. from Iron Man.” Ok, that’s a high bar but a cool one. Mem is more than a mere notetaking app – anyone who uses note apps knows that it’s not about taking down notes, it’s being able to use and access the info we store in the notes in an efficient and natural way. Well, that’s what Mem promises– an AI-based virtual assistant that “sits on top of the Mem knowledge graph.” The knowledge database is starting with notes but will expand to include calendar events, emails, links, documents, videos, photos and whatever else you want, all easily searchable and accessible at your fingertips.

NoiseAware’s “Rental Property Protection Service”
This one is a buzzkill, literally if you are the partier, but it’s a fantastic solution if you are the property owner/renter. What does NoiseAware do? It’s an easy-to-use plug-in noise sensor for short term rental properties. It detects elevated levels of sound, say, from those questionable renters of an Airbnb and almost instantaneously texts them a message to turn the music down. Even before the neighbors get a chance to complain, the app does the dirty work and solves the noise problem. The company says that it has helped short-term rental homeowners and managers save $105 million in lost rental revenue due to noise disturbances.
They just completed an $8M Series A with S3 Ventures and Thayer Ventures.
